Choosing, displaying & related collections

Compare the complete mineral names and origin of each piece. A specimen’s matrix, associated minerals and arrangement can be as interesting as its main crystal. Size and weight alone are therefore not enough to choose by.

Use detail photographs and condition notes to assess exposed faces, edges and contact areas. Dedicated collections such as pyrite and chalcopyrite or chalcedony allow a more focused search. Care and display should suit the composition of the individual specimen.
